Licensed Psychologists, Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Mental Health Counselors, and Certified Employee Assistance Professionals!

Program Services offers a learn-at-your-own-pace selection of addiction courses for licensed professionals seeking state certification as an addiction professional!!!

Note:  Some states require that we be identified as a single source provider (which we are not)  What this means is that you should obtain yyour required and optional courses from a variety of educational sources rather than try to complete all your courses at Program Services.  Please check with your state credentialing organization to find out if this requirement is in place in your state.

What is the Addiction Professional Training Track? I.C.& R.C. affiliated state substance abuse certification boards recognize the significance of professionals who are licensed as professional counselors. These boards often waive some of the requirements for licensed professionals who are seeking a certified addictions professional designation. Requirements include a professional license in the counseling professions and between 145 - 165 total hours of addiction-specific education (varies by state) and passing the certification examination.

The IC&RC developed its educational requirements to conform to the Center for Substance Abuse Technical Assistance Publication 21: Addiction Counselor Competencies. Contact your state certification board for specific education requirements in your state. Program Services has developed the requisite addiction curriculum that conforms with CSAT TAP 21 and provides credits across the four content areas; understanding addiction, treatment knowledge, applications to practice, and professional readiness.

Please note: Our courses may be applied to the requirements for CAS, CAC, and CCJAS, CCJAC designations also. We currently do not provide the entire curriculum for non‑licensed applicants but our courses are applicable to that certification level. Contact us for our curriculum information.

How are credits earned? Interested professionals can select courses from our course catalog that conform with their state course requirements.  Learners can complete courses at their own pace and upon successful completion will obtain certificates and a transcript for use in your final certification application process.  All credits earned can be used for your other professional licenses renewal as Program Services has provider approval with the the National Board of Certified Counselors, the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors, and others. (See our approvals page)

Fees:  Prices for courses are posted in the online course catalog at the Shop Online link on the home page.
