Substance Abuse Professional Qualification Training National Exam for D.O.T. SAP Evaluations. (This contains the National Exam only)

Program Services validated National Examination is based on 49CFR Part 40 and the US DOT SAP Guidelines. As per the federal regulations, the examination covers all aspects of the US D.O.T. Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program including the functions of SAPs, MROs, Labs, and Collection professionals. It also includes questions about the modal administrations, and the procedures and rules for drug/alcohol testing. The new regulations expressly require that all professionals providing services to individuals in the return-to-duty process must be familiar with the regulations and the roles and functions of the other service agents. Our study guide aids the test-taker in accessing the important details in the regulations to achieve this goal effectively. Individuals may take the examination without purchasing our study guide and should be able to answer every question in the examination using the US D.O.T. SAP Guidelines and 49 CFR Part 40.

We are pleased to offer the national examination, which is provided with both the home study and online class. The regulations require that SAP’s complete this training and pass a NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED EXAMINATION. Program Services now offers this, externally validated national examination, as per the federal regulations. A score above 80% is required for certification. If you are ordering our online or home study version of the Qualification Training, DO NOT ORDER THIS TEST, the examination will accompany your order. If you have obtained qualification training elsewhere and you wish to take our examination this is the correct item to order.

The examination meets the federal requirements as a national qualification examination for individuals wishing to obtain the credentials to provide US D.O.T. SAP evaluations under CFR49 Part 40. Eligible professionals who have completed the qualification training required by 49CFR Part 40 may select and take this examination. Eligible professionals include; licensed or certified psychologists, social workers, employee assistance professionals, and ICRC or NAADAC certified addiction professionals. This is an open book test. You may have the regulation 49CFR Part 40 and the SAP guidelines in front of you while answering the items.

Complimentary Follow-up Package: Participants using our training and examination will receive a FREE SAP start-up package containing valuable internet addresses to Federal Register and other DOT publications sites to register as a qualified SAP, and formats for report preparation

This program is restricted to professionals who are, licensed physicians (including MDs and Osteopathic Physicians), licensed psychologists, licensed or certified Marriage and Family Therapists (as of 9/22/06), licensed or certified social workers, licensed or certified employee assistance professionals, and alcohol and drug abuse counselors certified by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) or the International Certification Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (ICRC)

Since this offering is related to the United States Department of Transportation, once you have completed the prep material and passed the national exam, it is the policy of Program Services not to provide additional SAP specific information or support.

We will send you a “complimentary SAP start-up kit” along with the purchase of the SAP Qualification Training which contains information that is helpful in answering general questions about getting started; in addition, the kit contains sample SAP report formats and gives the names of several SAP referral agencies where you can list yourself as a qualified SAP. The regulations and the study guide discuss everything else you need to know. 

Since the course material is designed to instruct you in everything which is required by the regulations, we will not be able to answer questions related to the performance of SAP duties, setting up an individual practice to accept SAP referrals or problems/questions arising from individual cases.
