This module: Module Two provides an in-depth discussion of supervision dynamics as well as other paradigms for looking at supervision dynamics. Six chapters include an overview the topic then in-depth discussion of dynamics including power, shared meaning, trust, dual roles, and isomorphism in supervision.
Overview of the entire series: This series on supervision familiarizes participants with a wide range of issues pertinent to the provision of supervision to individuals in the counseling professions. Module One (5 CE Credits) includes defining and differentiating supervision roles and functions from consultation, and providing a brief resource review of the supervision literature. Several categories of supervision models will be described. Module Two (5 CE Credits) covers a thorough discussion of the dynamics of supervision as an influence on the professional development of the supervisee. Module Three (5 CE Credits) explores special contextual issues including structure, techniques and methods, culture, gender, race, class. Module Four (5 CE Credits) describes contracting, financial issues, evaluation strategies, legal and ethical considerations. Module Five (5 CE Credits) includes a discussion on isomorphic process, good/bad supervisor profiles, good/bad supervisee profiles and problems in supervision. Module Six (5 CE Credits) completes the study with supervision tools for supervisors. Each module stands alone or may be taken in sequence. The series is useful all licensed mental health and allied health professionals who supervise staff who are providing counseling for individuals, families, and relationships.
Note: These modules meet the NBCC and AAMFT approved supervisor qualification educational requirements for 30 hours of supervision education. Note that the AAMFT requires that 15 credits must be taught live (online broadcast) and we offer Modules One, Two and Three two times per year – Click on the live seminars schedule for dates and times.

Purpose: To prepare mental health practitioners to provide quality supervision, to less experienced professionals by exploring and understanding supervision dynamics; which is a support to safe and effective counseling services.
