Mental Health Practice Error Vignettes Description:
This is a required medical errors meets the requirements for all Florida licensed mental health professionals including psychologists and other related health fields (see CE Broker for more info). This 2 CE offering invites learners to read and consider four mental health practice error vignettes published by DHHS, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Each vignette is followed by processing questions which the learner considers before reading the commentaries provided. Learners determine how well they perform the risk assessment and analysis function implemented as part of root cause analysis.
Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to identify the type of error in each vignette.
2. Participants will be able to identify the root cause of each scenario described.
3. Participants will be able to identify safety improvements for each vignette.

Hour One: Vignette One, Processing Questions, Vignette Two.
Hour Two: Processing Questions Vignette Three, Processing Questions.

Purpose: To provide information error situations in mental health practice to help practitioners reduce and prevent practice missteps.
Ethics and Boundary Issues: Multiple Relationships Description:
The ethical dilemma of multiple relationships continues to hold the attention of ethics commissions across all the major counseling disciplines. This study is inclusive of the five major professions; psychology, social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy and addictions professionals and will acquaint the reader with the current guidelines. The study concentrates on the area of non-sexual multiple relationships and rather than discuss various specific multiple relationships. Thelearner will leave this study with an enhanced understanding of the line between crossing a boundary and violating a boundary.
Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to describe the shift in thinking regarding multiple relationships in clinical practice.
2. Participants will be able to differentiate between a boundary crossing and a boundary violation.
3. Participants will be able to discuss the differences in ethics codes regarding multiple relationships across five counseling professions.
4. Participants will be able to describe two classifications of multiple relationships.
5. Participants will be prepared to manage multiple relationships through evaluating assumptions, reviewing for cognitive errors and utilizing recommended steps.
