This is a NEW!!! Course!!! Using real life perspectives this course will discuss special populations affected by domestic violence. The class includes incidence and prevalence information, historical perspectives, and current concepts. Some special populations/topics that are increasingly exposed to family violence discussed in the study include; child custody where domestic violence is prevalent, teen dating violence, human trafficking, immigration issues, assessment and resources.
Purpose: This offering is developed to provide content update on domestic violence populations. Domestic violence has been identified by many states as an under identified and under assessed problem, it is the intent of this offering to provide information that will permit effective and early identification and assessment of domestic violence problems.
Note: If you are considering this course for initial licensure Domestic Violence course requirements please order the Domestic Violence Core Course, Domestic Violence: The Basics, or the Initial Licensure Combo Course. This is an appropriate and approved course to meet Florida license renewal requirements for domestic violence education for psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists and mental health counselors as well as other allied health professionals.
Objectives:

2. Participants will be able to discuss new typologies of intimate partner violence.
3. Participants will be able to describe incidence and prevalence of teen dating violence.
4. Participants will be able to discuss issues affecting victims of human trafficking.
