Description:
The module discusses three of the six classifications of psychoactive drugs (hallucinogens, narcotics, and inhalants) including medical uses, street names, signs, and symptoms of low, moderate, and high doses, and including long term effects. Statistical information on costs to society including, crimes, traffic consequences, social problems, and health concerns are discussed throughout the class. Finally, a supplemental section on designer drugs, club drugs, steroid abuse, over the counter and prescription drugs is provided.
Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to discuss signs and symptoms of abuse of hallucinogens, narcotics, and inhalants.
2. Participants will be able to identify special aspects of designer and club drug use.
3. Participants will be able to discuss steroid abuse, over the counter and prescription misuse.

Agenda:
Hour One: Hallucinogens, Dissociative Drugs Serotonin Syndrome, LSD, PCP Special K, Dextromethorphan.
Hour Two: Narcotics, Inhalants, Steroids
Hour Three: Club Drugs, Rohypnol, GHB, Ketamine.
Hour Four: Prescription Drug Abuse, Pain Medication and Prescription Drug Abuse Trends, CNS Depressants, Stimulants.
Purpose: Practitioners will be able to observe for signs and symptoms of hallucinogens, narcotics, and inhalants abuse, intoxication, withdrawal and dependency where applicable.
